Recon Robotics

The Recon Scout is designed for a broad range of military, police and security applications.

Recon Scout Throwbot

Recon Scout Throwbot

The Recon Scout Throwbot reconnaissance robot is your man on the inside. It’s rugged, stealthy, mobile and unfailingly dependable, and it’s designed to take whatever abuse the job demands.

Throw it through a window, over a wall, or down the stairs and it lands ready-to-go. You can even drop it from an unmanned aerial reconnaissance vehicle. Once deployed, you can control its movement at a distance using a hand-held operator control unit. The Recon Scout helps you explore hostile or dangerous environments by providing real-time mission-critical reconnaissance video that enables your teams to act quickly, safely and decisively.

Before you send in your team, send in your Recon Scout Throwbot .

Recon Scout IR

Recon Scout IR

The Recon Scout® IR is the world’s first throwable, mobile reconnaissance robot with the capability of seeing in complete darkness. As with the standard Recon Scout that was introduced in 2007, the Recon Scout IR saves lives by allowing military and police to gain inside knowledge about dangerous and hostile environments before sending in their personnel.

Simply throw the Recon Scout IR through a window or doorway, and use the handheld Operator Control Unit (OCU) to move the robot through a dark environment. The infrared optical systems on the robot automatically turn on when the ambient light is low, and immediately begin transmitting clear real-time video to the OCU video screen or a nearby command post.

This Know Before You Go® capability saves lives, helps resolve dangerous situations more quickly, and greatly limits damage to property.

Before you send your team into the darkness, give them a big advantage – send in the Recon Scout IR.

Recon Scout XT

Recon Scout XT

The Recon Scout XT enables you to conduct video reconnaissance in cluttered indoor environments as well as in outdoor landscapes of dirt, sand and rocks. Equipped with large motors, powerful drive trains and aggressive wheels, the Recon Scout XT gives you the speed, power and maneuverability you need to gain mission-critical reconnaissance across a variety of terrain. Like the Recon Scout IR, the Recon Scout XT is equipped with an infrared optical system that automatically turns on when the ambient light is low, giving your team a big advantage in the darkest of environments.

The Recon Scout XT is just eight inches long and weighs just 1.3 pounds, making it extremely easy to carry and throw. It may be specified in any of three frequencies, allowing you to operate up to three robots in the same environment at the same time. It may also be added to any existing Recon Scout IR kit on a robot-only basis.

Command Monitoring Station

Command Monitoring Station

The Recon Scout Command Monitoring Station (CMS) enables your command post to monitor video transmissions from any Recon Scout reconnaissance robot, which can be operating up to 1,000 feet away. By using the CMS you can see precisely what your front line personnel see on their handheld Operator Control Units as they direct the movement of their robots. This real-time video lets you direct tactical and search-and-rescue operations, and provide an integrated response to any situation.

The CMS also allows you to switch from one robot frequency (channel A, B or C) to the next so you can monitor video transmissions from up to three robots. Software included with the CMS also allows you to use a computer running Windows XP ™ or Vista ™ to record up to two hours of video, and to capture and store still images as required. You can also use a standard RCA cable to display the video feed on any television or monitor. Also included are power cables that enable you to run the CMS from a standard power outlet or a 12VDC source.

Operator Control Unit

Operator Control Unit

The Recon Scout Operator Control Unit (OCU) is a rugged hand-held device used to control the movement of the Recon Scout and to receive live, high-quality video from the Recon Scout as it moves through an environment. The OCU is small and light weight, and can be operated with just one hand. Total set-up time takes less than 20 seconds: simply attach the two antennas and turn on the OCU. Movement of the Recon Scout is controlled by a simple thumb-operated joystick in the center of the OCU.
